What a photographer needs in Photoshop to retouch and achieve professional images?
Photoshop Image Retouching Technique For Photographers
It doesn't matter if you are a beginner photographer or an experienced photographer. Today you can learn to use Photoshop without studying fat books or spending hours and hours trying to understand very technical tutorials.
Dear fellow photographer,
My name is Juan Ignacio Torres, photographer, author and photography teacher. For years I have dedicated myself to teaching this art with special emphasis on photography initiation for beginners.
For this reason, and seeing that many photographers needed an effective way to start in photographic retouching, I did not hesitate to collaborate in the creation of this book, Photo Retouching with Photoshop, an initiative of Image Clipping Path India.
An ordinary photograph can be radically transformed through digital retouching, simply adjusting the exposure, contrast and color amazing changes can be achieved ...
Photoshop is such a powerful and complex photo editing program that it takes a lot of time of effort and dedication before fully mastering it.
For this reason, it is logical that the management of this great program entails a very high learning curve. Depending on the level you want to achieve, the study method (design careers, courses, workshops, books, etc.) and the time spent by each, it might be possible to acquire the expertise to retouch professional photographs in 2 or 3 months to those who dedicate themselves fully, or from 6 months, even more than a year, for those who cannot do it full time.
It is clear that this depends on several factors, but the truth is, and in this everyone agrees, that learning to retouch with Photoshop requires time, dedication and effort.
Most amateur photographers work, have families, and often few hours off. In those cases, it is difficult for them to dedicate weeks or months to training. Therefore, if this is your case, do not be disappointed, since below I will show you the method of the book to quickly learn to retouch with Photoshop.
The use of Photoshop can be learned very easily if you know in advance the reason for which you will use it, that is, if you understand what type of photo editing you need.
For example, the type of digital treatment carried out by an illustrator or a publicist is not the same as carried out by a 3D designer, a multimedia video editor, or in our case a photographer!
Therefore, if you are a photographer, you do not need to learn functions that are generally used by professionals in other fields, such as advertising creatives, 3D animators, astronomers, webmasters, graphic designers, forensics, architects, producers, to name a few. Knowing this, the range of functions and tools that you really must master is significantly reduced.
Once you have established what kind of photo manipulation the professional photographer needs, it is easy to focus on the tools and functions that Photoshop offers for this purpose and ignore those that you will never need.
It is proven that most of Adobe Photoshop tools, commands, and tools are not used by the vast majority of its users. If we stop for a moment and apply the Pareto Principle, it can be seen that 80% of Photoshop users only need and use 20% of its tools and vice versa.
By this I mean that a small group of specialized tools can achieve more than a large set of them and they are often the only ones we will need for our normal activity.
For example, if you use typical retouching from a professional photographer, you don't need to learn to draw with artistic brushes, perform rendering, use actions, apply a large number of filters, create textures, use three-dimensional effects, etc ...
This is a widely used and continuously applied principle in various areas of life and increasingly in education to achieve rapid and specific results. With this procedure, it is possible to focus and put the magnifying glass on those tools that you really need to learn, so that you can achieve your objectives directly in the shortest possible time.
The purpose of Photo Retouching with Photoshop is to teach each photographer to retouch their photographs without having to waste an enormous amount of time in courses or very technical books on Photoshop, and wherein the end they will only use 20% of what they have learned or less.
I am sure that most photographers want to continue shooting and taking photos in their free hours, and not sitting in front of a screen learning complex functions and commands in Photoshop.
I have worked closely with the Photoshop experts at Image Clipping Path India to include every digital retouch that professional photographers (amateur or professional) need to transform their photos. So I hope that with this book you can achieve it. Sincerely!
